Dear St. Paul Families and Friends:

What a beautiful weekend! The weather is finally co-operating, and I think that maybe … just maybe Fall has begun. Testing has been completed and make-ups are on the way. Our goal is to have all make-ups completed by Monday at the end of the day. If your child missed any section of the ITBS testing last week, they will be working on completing the test on Monday.

This week is an exciting week for the students because they will be having lunch with their parents or a friend. It was such a huge success last year during Catholic Schools Week that we decided to have a “Lunch with Parents” in the Fall, too. Please pay attention to the day that your child has lunch with their parents. Due to limited space in the Café we needed to break this up into last name alphabet order. If for some reason this does not work with your daily schedule, please feel free to choose a day that does work this week. We would not want your child to miss this opportunity due to scheduling issues. You can also order a lunch for yourself through our daily lunch program. Byrne Catering has placed an option this week for parent lunches. This might give you an opportunity to taste the lunches that the students have each day.

We will begin the recitation of the Angelus each day at 11:00 am. This will be led by our Student Leadership Council. If you happen to be in the building at 11:00, please feel free to join us in daily prayer. Our goal is to have our students participate in school-wide prayer at least twice a day. We have morning prayer each day with our announcements and then at 11:00 am. we will pray the Angelus.

Student Leadership Council elections have been completed. This year we had a larger group of students participate in the election process, close to 50 students in all. WOW! The SLC is elected by the students so that student voices are heard in school-wide decisions whenever possible. They will oversee some prayer services, service projects, help with Catholic Schools Week, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Donuts with Santa, and school spirit activities. We meet every other Wednesday, during Middle School recess. Below are listed the names of our SLC group for 2018-19 school year. If you need the services of SLC, please send me a FD and I will pass it on to the council.

We also have begun having Friday Snack Day at lunch. Last week their special snack was Snow Cones. These snacks are a special treat for our students on Fridays, with all money raised going to school organizations or funding projects. Some examples of Fund-Raising projects could be: SLC, 6th grade Camp, 8th grade Graduation Class and I am sure there are many more. If your organization is interested in sponsoring a Friday Snack Day, please contact Chris Gresham to get on the schedule.

That’s it for this week. I hope everyone gets outside and enjoys the beautiful weather. Until next week,

With blessings from my heart,
