“The Heart of St. Paul … Growing Together in Faith, Knowledge, and Virtue”

Prayer for School Children

Father of all mercies

We ask that you would bless

the youngest and littlest of learners,

the most helpless and powerless of persons,

with Your infinite and loving mercy,

granting them the strength to learn, concentrate,

and act in love towards

their teachers and fellow students.

We also ask that You would watch over them,

at home and at school

and give them proper direction

so that they may learn

of Your wonderful virtues.

We ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen

Dear St. Paul Parents and Friends,

Another Catholic Schools Week is in the books. I would like to express my heart-filled thanks to the many parents that contributed to this week’s success. It certainly takes a village to create a week as we just experienced. The school looked beautiful and the many activities were enjoyed by students and staff alike.

Thank you to the families that have already turned in their registration or have begun the process. As of Friday we had a little over 100 students in some stage of registration. Please remember that your registration check must be received by the last day of February to receive the “Early-bird discount.”

The Board of Education formed a VBRD Committee chaired by Carrie Lorentz. Carrie along with a few staff members, parents, and myself will form the committee. We will begin to concentrate on one of our eight virtues each month. For this month our spotlight is on the Virtue of Kindness. Our VBRD Committee has met and decided to write a monthly newsletter with different ideas of things that you as parents can do with your children to help reinforce our virtues in general and kindness specifically. This also will contain the monthly Baptism Anniversaries along with a weekly Mass schedule so that you will be aware of which homeroom will be sponsoring the Masses during the month. We also will try to highlight some articles that you can read to aid in your understanding of the Virtue Based Restorative Discipline Program. We have hung a VBRD Bulletin Board for all to view in the Parish Center Hallway.

As part of the goals for the Board of Education, we are also forming a Strategic Planning Committee. Joe Robben will be chair of this committee along with myself, staff members and parents. We will be looking at our School Improvement Plan and project where we would like St. Paul’s to be in the next three years. It will be exciting work. Periodically I will report back to you through this bulletin board. Well, the Super Bowl is starting … Can’t miss #50. Until next week,

With blessings from my heart,
Fran

HATS OFF TO:

The Students of St. Paul School – Catholic School Week was wonderful thanks to the student behavior and demeanor during the entire week. The teachers enjoyed themselves as much as the students. I have to say our Sock Hop at the end was fantastic!

The Class of 2016 – Our 8th grade students received rave reviews from the administration at the Cathedral. I received a special phone call from Sister Pat telling me that our students were well-mannered, knowledgeable, and well prepared for Confirmation. Our 8th grade students were awesome. Phone calls like that do not come too often which makes me so very proud of our students.

Our Outstanding Marketing Committee – At St. Paul, we have a group of parents and teachers who are committed to marketing our school in a positive light, which is what we believe we deserve. Our Catholic School Week opening on Sunday was unbelievable. It involved our entire parish community in our celebration and the positive energy continued throughout the week. Thank you to all involved. We could not have done it without you.

Our Speech Team who participated in the Villa Duchesne/Oak Hill Speech Tournament. We are very proud of you. This was the first speech tournament for many of our students. Speech Participants were: Claudia Schicker, Anna DiMaria, Savannah Fust, Emily Grither, Emma Ingram, Emily Kidd, Michaela Archambeault, Grace Theiss, Julia Lammert, and Madison Vogler.

PTO/Mother’s Club for the yummy luncheon and the “cart of surprises” for the staff. The gift cards made it go “over the top.” Many, many thank you’s from all of us to you!
