“The Heart of St. Paul … Growing Together in Faith, Knowledge, and Virtue”
Dear St. Paul Families!
What a great time we had at St. Paul last week! Tuesday was our Student Leadership Elections. Mrs. McCaslin outdid herself with voting boothes, red, white, and blue and voting machines. (Ipad computers) All of the students were finished voting in about 2 hours which was great.
I have to say that I was so very impressed by our students and how supportive they were of each other. We all met at 2:00 in the front office for our election results. We then moved down to the Learning Consultants classrooms because it was vacant and a little more private. As the group walked down to the classroom together, I witnessed and heard High Five’s and Good Lucks the entire way down the hall. When I made the final announcements the students applauded each other and there were NO TEARS. Now I have done elections a number of times and never saw this kind of support of fellow students as the results were being announced. All 17 students were so impressive, my thoughts turned to the fact that no matter who won the election, we have a group of students that we can feel very proud of. Natural leaders!
On Wednesday evening, the Marketing Committee sponsored a Preschool and Kindergarten story time. It was very well attended and the students loved the stories, crafts, and activities that went along with it. Hat’s Off to Sara Sherman and the planning committee on such a successful event for our little ones.
Finally on Friday, Veteran’s Day, twenty-eight 7th grade students, Mrs. Clodius, and Mr. D impressed everyone with an informative and creative Veteran’s Day Assembly. Our day began with a Veteran’s Day Mass with Father Mike. (Thank you, Mrs.Serati for organizing the Mass) After Mass we invited our Vet’s to Coffee and Donuts in the church basement hosted by our new student leadership council. (Mother’s Club/PTO donated the donuts and coffee.) At the end of the morning, we honored over 20 St. Paul vets at an assembly. The children participated in patriotic songs, the history of Veteran’s Day, a great address by Father Benz, and ended with presenting our donation of pretzels and cheese-its, and many cards to be used in Care Packages for our Troops overseas. What a busy, productive week!!!
This week we have Parent / Teacher Conferences on Thursday afternoon and evening. Grade Cards will be open to parents on Wednesday, at 3:00 p.m. The teachers are looking forward to these conferences to share the wonderful things your students are doing in class. If you would like to talk to me please stop by the office. I will be sitting in a some conferences but if I am not available I will have the person at the front desk take you name and I will get back to you to set up an appointment. I want to let everyone know that my door is always open to parents, students, and staff.
Just a reminder, please make sure that you return the Virtue Bags on Monday of each week so that we can share them with another St. Paul family. That’s it for now … hope to see you on Thursday.
With blessings from my heart,
