FROM MY DESK TO YOURS #29
. .AND GOD SAID “NO.”
March 5, 2017
“The Heart of St. Paul … Growing Together in Faith, Knowledge, and Virtue”
I asked God to take away my pride, and God said “No.”
He said it was not for Him to take away,
But for me to give up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole, and God said, “No.”
He said her spirit is eternal,
While her body is only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience, and God said, “No.”
He said patience is a by-product of tribulation.
It isn’t granted – it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness, and God said “No.”
He said He gives blessings,
Happiness is up to me.
I asked God to spare me pain, and God said “No.”
He said, “Suffering draws you apart from
Worldly cares and brings you close to Me.”
I asked God to make my spirit grow, and God said “No.”
He said I must grow on my own,
But he will prune me to make it fruitful.
I asked God if He loved me, and God said “Yes.”
He gave me His only Son, who died for me,
And I will be in heaven someday
Because I believe.
I asked God to help me love others
As much as He loves me,
And God said,
“Ah, finally you have the idea.”

Good morning to all. Happy Sunday! As I was looking for a prayer for the first week of Lent, I came across this lovely poem that I thought I would share. We will be having Stations of the Cross each Monday in Lent. Come and join us in Lenten prayer.
As I mentioned last week we were anxiously awaiting the decision on the Beyond Sunday Grants from the Archdiocese. We have been told that they have backed up the decision date to March 15th so we have another week to wait. Keep those prayers going. This grant would be a huge boost to St Paul’s programming for our students. As part of this grant we would be purchasing STREAM curriculum for all students in our St. Paul community.
We are coming down to the wire with early registration. Please remember that you are not considered registered until we have all your paper work. Some families have clicked in FD that they are coming back but have not handed in the paperwork. To receive the early registration, the paperwork must be handed in by tomorrow. I would hate for anyone to miss out on the reduced rate.
The survey for summer school will be coming out today or tomorrow. Be on the lookout. I apologize that I did not get it out last week but got a little bogged down with things here at school.
On Friday, March 10th, our 8th grade class will be having the 8th Grade Musical at Rockwood Summit, 7:00 pm. The students have put tons of work into this production and rumor has it that they are really good. Please consider coming out and supporting our 8th graders. All proceeds from the musical will go to the 8th grade class for their end of the year celebrations. ALSO, if your child brings a ticket stub to school on Monday, they can dress down!!! (Thought I would add a little incentive.) Hope to see you there.
Until next week,
HATS OFF TO:
With blessings from my heart,
~~GRACE EPPLER – Grace is a Finalist in the Missouri State Geography Bee. She will be competing in the state finals later this spring. Great job, Grace. Keep up the good work!
~~OUR SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADERS – Last week these students made a visit to the Cathedral. Two days later I received a phone call from Sister Pat Donnelly raving about how wonderful our children were during the visit. She especially noted how quiet and respectful they were not to disturb any Mass that was taking place. She also said that their questions were right on point and how respectful they were to the tour guide. Those are the phone calls that principal’s love!!! What a great representation of St. Paul School.
